Oliver injector pump
| cjp | How do you determine if the injector pump is the problem. It is so costly to rebuild, would like to know that might actually be the problem before I send it in for rebuild ($1200!) Original problem: tractor would only run at very low RPM's. Blowing black smoke out the stack and running very rough. Finally quite completely. Unable to restart. Fuel thru the filters to the pump. No fuel to the top cavity of the pump. Should the fuel gravity feed thru the pump and out the top fitting? Roosa Master pump.

| Chairman | Just had my pump rebuilt and similar to your problem. Is your air filter clean? Remove it and try to start the tractor. If it runs better replace the filter. If tractor won't run remove the return line on top of the pump that leads to the line that connects all the injectors.Put a bucket underneath hopefully there will be a lot of fuel. Try to start the tractor. If tractor runs you have a clogged return line. Shut tractor off and remove fuel tank cap and blow air through line to the injectors if no air remove lines until you find the obstruction. If air comes through remove fitting from top of the pump and make sure the little check ball inside is free.If tractor still won't start reinstall return line and loosen (don't remove)the hex head screw from the side of the pump and try to start the tractor. If tractor runs it's time to rebuild. This is what my pump man told me.$1200? I think you should be able to buy a rebuilt roosa master of most any model for no more than 7 or 800 dollars. Hope this helps. |
