adding lead to gas?

farmerrich_2000 I have a 1945 Oliver 60 Row Crop. Someone was telling me that I should add a lead additive, or some type of transmission fluid to the gas. Can anyone tell me if this is common practice?
rich4 Most likely your valves/seats have been replaced to a harder type through the years so as not to require lead. As far as oil in the fuel I would only use 2 cycle oil as it is designed to mix well, burn cleanly and leave no residue.
brian i too have an older oliver a 1962 " i think" i found that the head looks as though it was redone but just incase i add lead it's cheep at wall mart about $6.00 treats 116 gal
