exhaust pipe does not line up with hole in hood

Craig Parkhurst I just purchased an Oliver 66 tractor with sr# 424627 which says it is a 1950. My problem is that the hole in the hood does not line up with the exhaust manifold pipe. Some one cut it out so it would fit. My question is, do I have the wrong hood or has the engine been changed? The number stamped on the block is G2804576. The side curtan decals also say oliver 66.
oleblu The tractor originaly had an under the hood muffler that the inlet and outlet did not line up. Once the muffler went bad most hoods had the hole enlarged to accept a straight pipe or a muffler type from a Super series.
I think Korves Oliver has a "patch" for your hood to put the hole back where it belongs.

Craig Parkhurst Thank you very much for the info. Being my first Oliver restoration, I was not sure what was going on.
Maybe you can help me with one other problem I have with the same tractor. When I went to change the oil in the engine, which by the way appears to run fine, there was no oil filter to change. The filter assembly was completely gone. I did not notice this when I purchased it. There is a plate covering the hole in the block. Who ever did it had sense enough to mill a slot in the back of the plate to connect the two oil holes which allowed the oil to circulate. Needless to say I need an oil filter assembly to make it right. I think 66, 77 & 88 models are the same? Do you know wher I could get one. Thanks again!

oleblu The first person I'd try is Larry Harsin. Phone is 712-362-2966 or his e-mail is
oleblu Not sure what happened with the last post.

Larry Harsin's e-mail is

oleblu WELL! I guess I'm not allowed to post an e-mail addy. Do a Google search for Harsin Oliver.
Good luck.
