|Jim||Wanting to install a 354 perkins diesel in a 1850 gas tractor. Will a 354 perkins out of a 510 M.F. combine fit without to much extra work ? Has anyone tried this?
|Shep Va||Yes a 354 out of a MF combine will fit, but it will be some extra work. I have seen this done before but you will need to change the front tub frame on the tractor to a diesel frame so the engine mounts will fit up. You will also need the diesel Oliver 354 bellhousing for the engine to mount correctly. Also the intake and exhaust manifolds will be wrong, the fan mount will likely be wrong, and the bell housing on the hydra power will be wrong and clutch will not work from the combine..
So you will have some parts to change, but the engine itself "should" fit and work for you.
