MF 202 bulldog clutch problem
| jeremy | Hello, I recently starting working on a MF 202 bulldog tractor, I was able to get the engine running great but I have a problem putting it into gear, the clutch does not seem to be disengaging when I switch gears. I am able to switch into gears, but when I do the tractor 'jumps' even when the clutch is engaged, I suspect I may need to replace the clutch but are there any other ways to fix the clutch? Also, the tractor has not been running in 7 plus years and was greased before going into storage, could excessive grease prevent the clutch from disengaging? Thanks! |
| GEEBEE | If yours has the standard trans have you checked the clearance on the clutch pedal (i have a diagram showing how to do this if ya need it), it is possible for the clutch plate to stick to the flywheel if contaminated with oil/grease, i think you have the inspection plate at the bottom of the bellhousing, you can remove that and observe the operation of the clutch while someone depresses the pedal. After sitting for 7yrs a good workout may well settle things down also.
