| Mike | I know this may cause some heated replies but.... It appears to Me that New Deeres such as the new L series and more importantly the LT series, are AYP machines. Before anyone flames Me, hear Me out. I've spent hundreds of hours under alot of Deere L&G tractors. From 1970's 140s (what a tractor!) to 318s(another great one!), stx 38s, and New gen Liquid cooled Kawis etc. The LT 133 has a deck that has the pulleys on "stalks" (for lack of a better word) just like the MTDs and AYPs, also the hoods on the Craftsmen (ayp) Deluxe lawn tractor, are nearly identical to the LTs. The AYPs built for Husky and Craftsmen and these "new" Deeres all have that same cast iron front axle, the same turning radius and the same cup holder! I was pretty sure the Sabres were AYPs, but the more I look, the more I'm convinced that AYP is building alot more than the Sabres of a couple of yrs. ago, for Deere. I'm curious if anyone with some real inside info, can confirm or dispell these suspicions. thanks. |

| Sonny | I don't know what AYPis. However I have been looking at the deere's. Especially the Lt160 and the L120. In your knowledeable opinion are these tractors worthy? If so what would be your preferance? Thanks, Sonny |

| Mike | Thanks Ollie. As for wether these tractors are worthy, Sonny, it depends. I don't know what Your plans are. Are You only going to mow? Do You have designs on snowblowing, rototilling? How much are You mowing? Half an acre or 5 acres? There are so many variables that I could go on about differing scenarios for pages. I can only tell You My preferences. I'd look for a clean used 318, and I'd drive off into the sunset with My power steering and my full hydraulics. I'd have $2,500-$3,500 bucks in a tractor that would cost over ten thousand to replace new . There's no way I'd pay $2,000+ for a Craftsmen or JD that was built by AYP. Either of wich will lose half it's value as soon as You get it home. |
| jerry | i have a new G100 john deere and i love it. i have a scotts 2050 and it has been a real goo0d mower. they told me they are in fact the same mower. havn't spent a cent on either one yet and i am mowing about 3 arce a week

| Steve | I needed a new lawn tractor this spring to replace my trust JD 111, which I dearly loved. I was really disappointed with the L series JD, which all looked flimsy compared to the 111, so, I committed adultry and looked at Huskees, Yardman, MTD, Craftsman,and others made by AYP. Talk about deja vu! They all seemed almost exactly like...like, well like the low end JD's! So, if the low end JD's aren't made by AYP, then JD made theirs a clone of the AYPs. 'Cause they're bloody darn near the same except for colors, even to having the same thicknesses of metal for the same parts. |

| alan whippo | Hello My name is alan, I own a small landscaping business in hampton VA, I purchased one of the John Deere G100 series tractors in June of 2003. It was an awsome investment. But for some reson it started to run rough and Back fired a lot, this only occured when you shut it off. Then I cheked fluids, everything was at its normal level. So I started it up later on, thinking maybe the problem was due to bad gas, it ran fine for about 2 minutes, Then it made a laud bang sound and just stoped running. I cheked the engine out, it seemed as if one of the two cylinders just stopped working. If u have any idea why this may be, please let me know
