| Tommy Rhea Jr. | I have a JD 110 lawn tractor with a 4 speed transmission. Whenever I put it in any of the gears the shifter will pop out. Sometimes it will stay in for a little while then it pops right back out again. Does anyone know what may cause this and where would I find a manual for the transmission? Tommy
|
| Lance | The syncros in the transmission may be worn. Syncros help the gears mesh together. If the syncros are wore the gears may not mesh properly and cause them to jump out of gear. Good Luck.

| Tommy Rhea Jr | Thanks Lance Can you explain a little about the syncros and do they cost alot of money? Tommy
|
| Lance | The syncros are inside the transmission. They help align the teeth on the gears so when you put it in gear the teeth slide together rather than try to bind on each other. You would want to go ask a dealer or small engine shop there opinion. The trans. would have to be removed and tore down to have them replaced so i would expect it to be somewhat expensive. Good luck. |
| Dave Wigginton | Tommy, I have a 1974 JD 110 with the same problem in 3rd and 4th gear. What have you found out about your problem? Dave |
