Hi and Thanks for looking. I have a not to old Sears & Robbock 14hp 4 cycle (briggs & Stratton) lawn mower. No matter how manyt batteries I get over the last couple of years, it hardly turns over. Finally after 10 minutes it catches just right and starts up. My guess the starter. From what I understand its a belt driven Starter-Generator. It runs well when it starts. Where would I look for parts? Should I just sell it and get something else? Thanks!

Do any of the wires get warm when you try to start the tractor? If any of the wires get warm you could have a bad connection somewhere. If it is belt driven make sure the belt is not slipping. You may be able to adjust the tension. If none of these ideas find the problem remove the starter and get it tested. It may have a short in the armeture causing to draw to much juice. If the motor runs fine like you say the starter is likely your problem.Good luck.
