JD F525 clutch problem

Gary Osten I have a JD 525.

When I try to turn on the blades the clutch either does not engage or engages for a brief time and then shuts off.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix it???

Charlie check the air gap between the clutch and the magnet. I believe it should be .010 of an inch.
Bruce Pto circuit for F525 is slightly complicated due to all the safety features. Could be one of several things. Bad pto switch or relay. I believe both ignition and pto relays are the same. You could switch them and see if the problem is still present. Also, when the foot brake is applied, a switch mounted on the linkage drops the pto relay out. I'm assuming that when the problem occurs, you have to reset the pto switch off then back on again.
