Sears Craftsman LT1750 starting problems

Tom Maltais I've got a Sears Craftsman lawn tractor with a Kohler 17.5 HP engine. It's 3 years old and I've never had any problems. It started right up Thursday night, but then wouldn't start on Friday or since. The engine cranked and started with full choke, but immediately died out. I replaced the plug and fuel filter. Same problem. I noticed that if I held the key in the ignition position, the tractor would run. As soon as I released the key, it stalled. In frustration, I held the key in the ignition position for about 45 seconds and the tractor went silent. Now, when I turn the key, nothing happens at all. No sound, no anything! Any ideas? Did I kill the starter or solenoid? Is the ignition switch toast? Any help would be appreciated!
Lance Sounds to me like maybe the ignition switch. It sounds like its giving power to the coil as long as the key is in the starting position. I would also check incase there's fuses. As for having nothing happen now when you turn the key i would think the solenoid. It should click even if the starter is dead. I would check the wire wires with a test light or multi-tester.
Tom Thanks Lance. I'll look into it.

mario My sears lawnmower is giving me problems when Igo to start it I have to play with the wires behind the switch and some times it starts and some times nothing.Today it tryed to start then nothing
