TRACTOR BOGS UNDER LOAD
|JOE||I HAVE A CRAFTSMAN 42" MOWER.IT BOGS DOWN WHEN I INGAGE THE BLADES, OR WHEN THE BRAKE IS TAKEN OFF. IT JUST STARTED THIS IT RUNS AND SOUNDS FINE WHEN NOT UNDER LOAD
|Joe||You're probably using the wrong term when you say eng bogs down,from what you describe is happening it sounds like you have a problem in safety sw circuit,check that safety sw under seat in & tight in mounting bracket & plunger on sw being depressed by seat,if sw not loose/plunger being depressed,then locate & disconnect ign kill lead at eng,start eng,release clutch,engage mower,if eng continues to run,deck engages & tractor moves then problem in safety sw's & any relay's(if tractor has) associated with sw's,an ign sw going bad or a short in wiring harness to sheetmetal/chassis.IF eng still slows down/stops with kill lead disconnected,then problem in fuel system,carb or a govenor problem on eng.Also if eng a twin try replacing both plugs & check for spark at both plugs,you may have a bad plug or a coil bad/going bad & eng running on one cyl.
|JOE LANG||THANKS FOR INFO.
I CHANGED FUEL FILTER AND CLEANED AIR FILTER, ALSO I CUT SAFETY SWITCH UNDER SEAT AND TWISTED BOTH LEADS TOGEATHER,BUT IT STILL WANTS TO STALL WHEN BRAKE RELASED OR BELTS FOR BLADES ENGAGED.
WILL CHECK OTHER STUFF WHEN IT GETS COOLER OUTSIDE IT'S TOO HOT FOR ME NOW
|Joe||Take the splice apart & tape ends of wire's,depending how tractor wired you may be simulateing no one sitting on seat,most seat sw's wired with contacts closed when not sitting on seat,this completes ground circuit & runs thru clutch sw/mower engage sw & kills eng ign,same as getting off seat with clutch engaged/mower engaged or turning ign sw to stop/off.
|JOE||HAPPY 4TH OF JULY.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP. I UN TAPED THE WIRES AND RETAPED THEM SO THEY DON'T TOUCH AND I'M NOW MOWING AGAIN.
