ford model 55 won't crank over & no spark

Roger	I got Ford l s 55 mower won't spin when you turn key. nospark when you spin it junping solinoid . just got it did not come with oners manual. I think it might be a safty switch. is there away to by pass safty switches? or have no idea what else to do.
davey	when you checked for spark did you have the key turned to the on position? also, when you jump the solenoid, are you shorting across the 2 big terminals on top? or you jumping fron the small wire post to battery terminal on top
davey	what make is the engine on it?
bontai Joe	Have you checked the battery? Checked the battery cables at BOTH ends? Absolutely made sure the ground wire is firmly attached to the tractor with a clean connection?
