Craftsman model 502.255090

Pat attempting to rebuild the dana 4450-1 5 speed spicer transaxle on above model 10 hp rear engine mower.
Took housing apart and discovered both clutch keys broke. bought replacements and installed.
unit still apart but when testing gears seem ok and when u turn the drive pully the axles turn but will stop if you grab them - no drive force. Any ideas would be appreciated
