westwood gazelle how to remove boss ?

p. pendrey Hi, Please can you tell me how i can remove pulley boss from westwood gazelle 48inch cut twin briggs engine. thanks pete
bontai Joe I am totally unfamiliar with your tractor, but pulleys are generally held on by one of a few ways. Clean off the hub and look for a set screw that can be loosened, then with some gentle persuasion, it should slide off. Or look for a insert bolted to the pulley. That insert would squeeze the shaft under pressure when the bolts are tight. Loosen the bolts and reinsert them in the other provided holes to push against the pulley relieving the pressure squeezing the shaft. In both cases, look for and try not to loose the key in the shaft. Use penetrating oil (and patience) if needed to break any rust bond.
