briggs 11hp need advise
| Michael VanSolkema |
I was wondering if it would be worth fixing this engine, heres whats wrong, the carb needs to be replaced, I say replaced because the throttle shaft is worn, and I'm not sure I would want to try to fix it, also I think the head needs to be redone, new valves and seats. It is a model no 25277 from 1979. A rebuilt carb is around $80 I think, how much would it cost to have the head gone through? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

You might also goto www.smallenginewarehouse.com,they have a repower section at their site, see if your mower listed & if it is what they recommend for replacement, problem being, eng you want to replace is an L head(flat head)most/all replacement eng ohv,you might have to redrill mounting holes & compare shaft dia x length between old & new & also height of new eng or try going to ebay and type briggs eng 11hp or briggs engine 12hp in search, several of each listed,of type you're looking for,to my knowledge 11 & 12 hp use same block, you may get a good used eng at a good price, also check your mod# again, you're missing a number, probably should be 252707.

yes should be 752707 I looked on ebay, no luck may have found a guy close to me that has 12hp for $50, says it runs good. The 11hp is not the original engine anyway. IT is a ford lt75, would like to find a good running 7.5 hp engine, I believe that is what they came with originally.
