Montgomery Ward 18 H.P. garden tractor
| Grant | Model no. TMO-3396409. Engine will start but the speed selector will not move, stuck in position 5, and the tractor will not move, no matter what position the shift lever is in. Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have. Grant |
| rcbe | Sounds as if your engine to transmission drive is messed up somehow. Could be several things and also depends on what type of transmission your tractor was built with. For starters, see what your manual reccommends in the way of adjustments/repair/etc. If no manual, try to locate/get one. Good luck. |
| jed1950 | this was common for these if you start your rider and start from 1st gear and shift to a higher gear, lets say you are in 5th gear and stop the engine, the variable speed pulley will still be in 5th gear but will not move forward or reverse,so start your rider, leave shift lever in neutral and the speed selector lever move it to the highest speed 7 or 8 if you have then move the lever back to 1st speed this should reset the pulleys, always stop at 1st speed.
