kohler engines not getting fuel

frank Schaefer my riding lawnmower (john deere L110) has a 17.5hp kohler engine that is not getting fuel. I have drained the gas tank, replaced the fuelfilter, airfilter, sparkplug, and ive even tried to take off the fuel pump because it has a broke 90 degree elbow on the inlet and i thought it might be sucking air. it is still not getting fuel up to the fuel filter let alone to the carb. the mower turns over fine and when i spray carb cleaner into the carb it runs for a few seconds.
rcbe yeah, gotta get that fitting fixed/replaced. even the least amount of air entry can mess up the fuel pump's function.Until that's fixed, chances are your engine will continue to behave as now.
Another thing after above is finished to make sure of - some Kohler engines are very picky about having the correct fuel filter installed.Check the john deere parts listing or Kohler's IPL for that engine to get correct filter p/n (same may called out on a decal in your engine compartment - some mfgrs provide that.)

dave robinson 9 horse kohlor starts fine runs a whyll then shuts down pull gas line loose from carb let feul run in filter then starts fine runs for a short time then does same thing again
