Craftsman lawn mower, will not engage blades
| JM | OK, I replaced the battery, put it in backwards (pos, neg leads oopss!) blew the 20amp fuse, replaced it. I then started the engine, it runs fine. I engaged the PTO with no result, turned the engine off and tried to restart, nothing, replaced the 2nd blown 20amp fuse. I then started it again and engaged the electronic PTO and noticed the voltmeter drop off the scale,-15 and quickly disengaged the PTO. I can repeat this process but can not get any movement from the blades at all... ideas?

| rcbe | sounds like a short to ground somewhere in the pto circuit. might try unhooking electric plug right down close by the pto clutch and see if the tractor at least stops blowing fuses. If it doesn't, will take some wiring detective work with a VOM or similar to locate and fix the pto circuit short... |
| jm | ok, I disconnected the electrical plug right at the PTO clutch.... yes, it stoped blowing fuses with this, the voltmeter on the dash does nothing. This means there is a short in the clutch? thanks |
