Craftsman 42 Inch 917.2720601

Art Engine (16 hp Kohler) runs fine for about 5 minutes then quits. Will restart imediatey and run for a few more minutes. Probem seems to be aggravated when going up hill. Already changed fuel and air filters and spark plug, checked the oil, cleaned out the gas tank and cleaned the carburator. Problem started with the changing of blades this spring. That may be coincidental
Joe Disconnect ign kill lead where it exits eng(probably a white wire on eng)run tractor as you usually do,if eng still dies, try replacing oil filter,if eng has pressure sw on oil filter adaptor, disconnect sw,also remove sheetmetal covers on eng, check that cooling passages between fins are not plugged with grass, leaves, old mouse nests, remove sheetmetal cover on head, some kohler cv eng had a hi temp sw mounted under 1 of the head bolts or on head, killing eng when eng overheated, disconnect sw,with one or both sw's disconnected(kill lead still disconnected)run tractor, after 10 min reconnect oil pressure sw & continue running,if eng dies within 10 min, pressure sw plugged up or bad,if eng doesn't die reconnect hi temp sw(if eng has)run 10 min,if eng dies, them sw bad or you have a mech problem on deck or drive system causing eng to overheat. If eng doesen't die with sw(s) reconnected & kill lead diconnected, then problem in safety sw's,wiring or a fuel supply problem on tractor, you'll have to isolate from there as to fuel or elect problem(reconnect kill lead at eng),1st thing I would check is seat safety, that same is not out of alignment, loose in mount, loose wire conn or sw going bad,you may be moving on seat, especially going up hill, causing sw to lose contact with seat, killing ign on eng.
