I own a 20 HP, 46" Craftsman garden tractor with the twin Kohler engine. The tractor starts up fine but when I put the brake down (has automatic transmission) the engine shuts down. I can't figure what's going on. Anyone have any ideas for troubleshooting/repair?

check for a broken/disconnected or bad safety switch,this will shut down engine

it could be bad safty switch under seat or reverse/ mower switch may be messed up

I have the same tractor but mine shuts down when I take the brake off. It runs fine with the brake on. I've checked the operator present awitch and the clutch/brake switch and they are good. Any help?

I have the 27.0 hp craftsman with auto transmissionand have the same problem. However I changed the ign switch along with the relay, and brake petal switch and the mover worked for two weeks and now i'm back with the same problem.. tractor starts with petal in but stopes when letting up. Any help would be great.
