||Have Kubota L2900 with 406 hours. Today, noticed water leaking. Found culprit--tiny perfectly round hole at bottom of water pump--almost as if it were designed as a small "freeze plug". Any idea why it's there(what's it's purpose?) and how do I correct? Can the hole be patched or will it require new water pump?
Thanks for any and all help!
|| The hole is there to show you when the internal seal has gone bad and to prevent the coolant from ruining the bearings. You will need to replace the pump in time.
That hole is called a "weep" hole. It is put there purposly just as Eric described. It may be possible to just replace the seal and bearings if you got a press and some time to carefully take it apart and replace those. I have done it many times on pumps when caught in time when the weep hole goes into action. Good luck, tom
