steering wheel play in L225
| jerry whitton | I have just aquired 2 L 225 tractors and both have excessive sterring wheel play, like a third of the wheel turn. is there any adjustment or shims that would help other than replacing the whole assembly? thanks for any help, jerry.

| JON | There should be a adjustment for that on the steering sector. Adjust just like a older car. Also look for wear in the steering linkage, slop movement in the joints. |
| farmm | If it is steering box play, adjust as necessary and maybe do what many old Farmall users have done with their tractors, use pump grease instead of gear oil in the steering box to smoothen and tighten things up. The adjustment should put you in range of about 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch play at the steering wheel edge. At least my tractor of similar vintage tightened up nicely at this measurement.
