Bx 2200: removal of by-pass hose

Friends, I have a BX 2200. The hydraulic hose that feeds the bucket loader has sprung a leak. At present, the bucket is not mounted, so the hose is essentially a bypass, plugged back into the tractor.
I can not seem to get the hose off at the fitted end. There is a bronze flange at the top, a flange-type nut just under that and then a nut fitting that looks like it may be part of the small metal tube that feeds hydraulic fluid to the hose.
I need to know what to grab onto and what to turn. I am concerned that torquing the wrong ones may damage the rather delicate metal hose that feeds the fluid.My gut tells be to hold onto the top bronze flange and turn the middle nut (not sure counter or clock).
