m9540 HD shuttle shift issue
| JAS |
I have an '07 with a loader and about 500 hours on it. When using the shuttle shift it reacts immediately in forward but, recently, has begun delaying or not moving at all when in reverse. If it won't move, I can get it going only by dropping into a lower gear. The problem is more noticeable in any high range gear. I have moved a good deal of dirt with the tractor and used it for cutting and baling hay. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Is this a HST tranny or gear drive?

I'm not sure what "HST" is, so just in case the tractor has 12-speed hydraulic shuttle.

on a 7040 that I had 6 hrs on same thing happened, wouldn't move in reverse position. more than likely it is a linkage adjustment issue on your hyd shuttle lever. think it is under the dash or floorboard.....you might want to get some assistance on it or talk to your dealer...easy job though backing off a lock nut then getting a more positive engagement in reverse. it's all mechanical linkage. is it still under warranty? my dealer came out and picked up mine....this is a common problem on that m series, not fine tuned at the factory.just don't want it adjusted so it is in partial engagement in neutral & possibly burning out the wet discs. the other possibility is a faulty/restricted valve in the tranny, but I'd start with linkage adj good luck
