G4200 HST engine question
| Tim Wild | I have managed to pop one of the plugs on the bottom sides of the engine block out, its a drainage plug or sand plug. I need to know how to replace it/

| Bevis | Before someone can help, you need to tell which plug you poped for sure, and how bad did you pop it. |
| Tim Wild | Sorry, the plug directly behind the starter motor assembly. It is completely missing.

| Rick | When this plug got popped out, what did you lose? Oil, antifreeze,tranny fluid or nothing at all. |
| Tim Wild | All the coolant. In fact if you refill the radiator the water just flows right out that hole.

| Tim Wild | If I have my terminology right the hole is in the outer wall of the lower engine casting. From what I can tell therre are four such holes, designed to be perenantly pulgged during pre-assembly.

| Rick | OKAY, now that you finally got the question out, and what happened. All you did was pop or it rusted out, was a freeze plug. You have to have the correct size and they press in or lightly tap in with a hammer. You might still get the type with rubber between two metal plates with a nut to tighten. Measure the hole and go to the local parts house to see if they can fit you. The universal type I was talking about with the rubber and nut is the easiest to use and it last just as long as the others. Don't forget to refill the radiator and use antifreeze,it has lube and other goodies the system needs. |
| BIG JOHN | Man, if you don't know any more than that, you better find you a tech to fix it, you could knock a hole sure nuff in that block, if you pick up a hammer to install a new plug. You would do better to get that unuversal plug Rick was telling you about. Stick it in the hole and tighten the nut untill it's tight. |
| Chris | All good advise gents but... unless one figures out why the plug came out in the first place you may be overlooking a more serious issue. All Tim says is that he's managed to pop a plug out. Unless he's was just fiddling around with a hammer and decided to see what he could do (I've done that on occassion myself, never with good results) to his tractor, he may have more srious problems. I agree that the universal plug would be the best fit.

| tim Wild | Thanks gents. I've never had a hole appear in the side of my engine before, any engine. I literally had no clue. The cause was probably my radiator going bad because as soon ans it was re-cored was when this problem cropped up. I imagine the plug was popped by the pressure build up from the bad radiator, and then later rattled all the way out through usage, I didn't at first know what was even going on because the hole was covered by the starter assembly and it wasn't until the starter went out, (from getting hit in the backside by leaking coolant) that I removed it and found the problem. Not I know what it is and how to fix it, thanks.
