| Dave | Jim - There is no coding. You cannot discern the year of manufacture just from the serial number. You have to compare the serial number to those published in a tech manual for the tractor. If you post the serial number, someone can most likely let you know the year of manufacture. - Dave

| bontai Joe | Your tractor is a 1981 model 212. Here is the data for your serial number: Model: 212 Note that all 200 series tractors left the factory with manual lift. If yours has the desireable electric or hydraulic lift, it was added by the dealer. The K-series cast iron block Kohler engines are extremely reliable and easier than most to rebuild. I just bought a similar vintage 210 a couple of months ago and enjoy it very much. |

| dakotarose | We have a JD 4010 deciel tractor with a duall loader. The serial number is 4010 22T 1669. We think it was built in 1961? Does anyone have one of these out there we could get some pictures of the sides showing the parts, and correct wiring? Our 2010 quit last fall with no warning, and after allot of new parts still will not run. We think we may have it either wired wrong, or bought the wrong generator/Alternator for it. The one we ordered from the tractor salavage was supposed to be the original one for that tractor, but when we got it, it did not look anything like the one that was on it? Our neighbors told us they think what was on it was after market? We changed it over, but think it is either wrong, or we have it wired wrong? still won't start. Since I am not a mechanic, I need to have pictures to refer too. Thanks
