trade-in value of a 1987 185 Hydro with bagging system

Dave Zachau I own a 185 Hyrdro lawn tractor that I bought new from a dealer in 1987. I now wish to trade it in for a new John Deere. What price range should I expect for the trade-in value, assuming the tractor was well maintained and currently has nothing wrong with it??

Vic DiPrampero If you find out please let me know. I have the same tractor and am trading it in as well. Have you ever changed the pto on yours. I'm on my 5th one which is why I am getting rid of it. Home depot is offering an interesting JD tractor for $1999. It has 20 hp and a 42" deck, I think that is my next purchase.
greg I have an 87 185 and have never had pto problems

That home depot JD for 1,999 will cause you more problems than your 185 ever had
I have seen used 185's go for as much as 1,995

Victor DiPrampero In 3 summers my new JD has caused me no problems. I still have my 185 if anyone wants it. I also use the new one for plowing snow. It does a good job but chains are needed.

simone How do you remove the 185 Hydor electric clutch from the bottom of the engine. I have the bolt out but it won't budge and I don't see any place for a puller

Jawz Use a flywheel puller. The type i used was a 2 claw with a center bolt. Remove bolt on clutch, then slide puller over the pully section. Insert both claws into the area the belt rides in. then just screw in the bolt. Once it starts to move it will just fall off.
