I'm having trouble with the instrument panel on a 6420. At times it will reset while running and continue to try to connect, making all the instruments bounce back and forth. I know it can't be the instrument themselves because at times it works perfectly. Would this be a loose connection on the panel connector or a fuse? Any insight on what to check first?

You probably have a loose ground connection. Most of the wiring in the instrument panel ground at the same point. Find that ground and see if it is loose. That seems to be your troubles from what you wrote. I dont know where the ground is off hand but if you cant find it, your local deere dealer should be able to tell you.
