Another 2040 hydralic system problem - oil leak & chattering
| david veillon | Hi Folks, My John Deer is a 70's model 2040 , manual trans and pto with low hrs. aprox. 8oo. The load control shaft seals are leaking hydro oil. I am told this is not uncommon, but am wondering if replacing the following parts is particularly difficult and is recommended that all should be replaced? ( 1-load control shaft, 2-retainer bushings, 3-seals, 4-o-rings, 5-bushings). These parts are listed the same way in my 2040 tractor technical manual. As mentioned in this forum titled - Hydraulics 1978 John Deer 2040 ; by John Van Houten and the reply ; by wolfie : should I replace the rocker shaft o-rings, as my tractor has just started a slight chattering when lifting a heavy load? All experienced suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, David V. |
| Walt | I have a 78 model 2040. The 145 front loader chatters when the hydralic oil is low. I had a bad leak at a oil line and the control valves. Now it is a small leak that I will likely fix this winter, but "JD" always lets me know when the hydralic is thirsty. (chatter on lifting)
