John Deere 445 Surges on start up

Brian Hi,

I have 1998 445 with 785 hrs.. Went to start it Saturday which was one week after it had last ran. It started with the throttle between idle and half. It would run but surged (dieseled) and would stall if I attempted to throttle-up. I discovered when I unplugged the manifold pressure switch which is located under the air filter housing, has a two wire plug going to it and a vacuum line from the intake manifold it ran much better, not normal but much better.

Amy idea's?

randy van vicklle I have a '99 JD445 that is doing about the same thing, pinched off the map sensor vacuum line and it ran fine, after checking on a map sensor ($265.00) the service department at the dealer said they have had similar symptoms, turned out to be the gas line in the tank it may "rupture". I'll be checking this next, you should have 25 lbs. of fuel pressure, and after the pump cycles and shuts off it should hold the pressure, if the pressure drops, it is probably leaking back through a hole in the gasline inside the tank.
