| Sam | Just purchased a JD LA for parts. Thought the engine had a thrown rod as it would not turn a full turn. Removed the oil pan and found the rods and connecting rods in good condition. The problem was the cam shaft was being stopped by two frozen exhaust valves. Was able to remove one but broke the other. Had to drill it out, and hit the top of the valve guide a few times with the drill bit. Will this affect the new valve that I am going to replace it with? I put a valve stem in and it seems to have a little clearance but not excessive. Need advice please. Hate to have to tear it all apart again. Thanks, Sam Scott |
| Leroy | A few scratched on a valve guide wont hurt anything so long it's holding the valve straight |
