8n no spark
| H R Fields | Front mount dist. Battery check good. New coil, condensor & points set at 15. Fire to coil. No fire to plugs when turning over. Pull with truck & will start immediately. Help please

| Bob G | I would check all of the battery cable connections, all 4. sounds like the voltage is dropping too much when you are cranking it. all it takes is one bad ground.

| Larry | I had the same problem with my 8N when I got it like 8 or 9 years ago. Talked with an old guy in the area and he told me several things. Replace the resistor on the back behind the gages. It is behind the tool box. Clean all contacts at that junction box. Clean all conections where those wires go to. I replaced the wire that went to the coil with a bigger one. Then last but most important is something no one ever mentions. Make sure your batterie cables are large 6 volt ones. The small 12volt auto batteries don't carry enough amps for 6volt. Since I've done this it will start in 10 below weather right now. I had messed with the carb and everything else on it before I talked to the old guy. Good luck. |
| H R Fields | Got it. Was brass tang on coil not making contact with distributor cap. Bent tang slightly, fired right up. Learn something new evert day. Thanks.

| Jim Loveridge | Larry, even though that wasn't H R's prblem this time it was great advise for us all.
|
| Lee | Any ideal where to find the VIN or Serial Number or year model on an 8n tractor?
