Starter problem

Steve Shelton After a 12V conversion on my 2N, the starter started making bad noises, then about 3rd start, just made a whirring noise and wouldn't engage.

I pulled the starter and the gear was GONE! I can buy a new starter drive, but what about the parts of the old drive that have to be down in there somewhere under the fly wheel?

Help appreciated.

Bob G Don't worry about it, plenty of room in housing for extra parts.

Jim Loveridge I've never done a 12 volt conversion, but I would recomend looking into putting a 12 volt starter on it or your going to loose another drive.
