crankshaft pulley wobbling

hitman What does that mean??? Am I in trouble?
Bob G It might just mean that the pulley is bent. as long as the crankshaft is not moving I would not be too concerned.
Jim Loveridge Is the bolt for the pully tight?
sal I will check it in the morning. I just got her about 3 weeks ago and it has not been running for a while. Got it running and have about 3 hours on it when I notice the wobble. Was change to an alternator and the pulleys do line up perfectly, may have loosened the bolt. thanks
wwildhorse2k You have to bear in mind that the original pulley was a sheet metal stamping that was welded to a steel sleve. It is quite easy to bend the pulley enough to show a wobble. The new ones are machined out of a solid steel billet and are very strong. replacement is easy although I have had to use a brake cylinder hone to enlarge the bore to slip over the end of the crankshaft. On of the benefits of replacement is that usually the old pulley is worn at the seal and the new pulley will seal better.
