starter for 8n
| Jim Schofield | I picked up a starter for a 8n. It has three ears to attach it to the block. The one that came on it appears to be attached by the starter bolts that run through it. Can I take the front part of the new starter off and replace it with the old one. Does this make any sence. Jim |
| Bob G | If you bought it new, I would take it back and get the right one.

| Bob G | What about rebuilding the old one?
|
| Jim S | Do you happen to know what tractor takes this starter with the three ears. The starter I baught was listed on Craigs list, as a 8n starter. My bad luck. I checked on having my old one rebuilt but the guy said it would be 80.00, a bit spendy I think, but still cheeper than another new one I guess. Is it useally just the brushes, and bushings that go bad. How do I check the windings, and the rest of it to see if it's worth rebuilding? Jim |
