hi lo range trans 2n
| chris | ihave a 2n with hi lo range trans which also changes the pto speed what are the speeds of the pto in hi ..... and lo.........
|
| Bob G | that would depend on the engine RPM.. at full throotle with no load, engine 2000 rpm the pTO will be turning about 800 Rpm. That is the normal trans. I don't know the rpm in low range. I am not sure of the gear rreduction in the boxes. Do google search for sherman transmissions in ford tractors |
| chris | thanks BOB G i googled sherman but none of those seem to be what i have its a handle on the left side of the trans that does appear to be a hi lo range for all 4 gears i wished i had a photo to show you the location did ford have a hi lo range trans on the 2n? chris |

Did you find the John Smith 8n site? it shows all of them. the most common place for the handle was on the left isde just infront of the trans, does it have a hi, normal and lo position? |
| Bob G | Ford did not have any thing that I have heard about. They were all after market items installed by the dealers. Wheter it was Sherman, Hupp or Howard. some were just overdrives, some underdrives and some both. The howard was after the trans so it did not slow up the PTO. It5 was good with rototillers.
