8n will not start

Mark B When I turn the key I get nothing, tractor was running fine just would not start every now and then. Battery is hot, converted to 12v, and I have juice at the bendix. Is there away I can test the bendix to see if it is bad before I go buy a starter. Thanks in advance
Mark B Is the mounting bracked on the selonoid have a negative ground, is that why it is bolted on to the started housing?
Larry Take the starter off and do a bench test on. If you have a 12 volt battery charger hook it up and see if it turns. If the battery is hot you have one heavy current draw on it for some reason. Could be the starter is frozen or stuck somehow since it don't turn over.
Mark B I think the started was burnt up. It start a couple of times with me turning the key and taping on the housing at the same time. Then I noticed a little bit of smoke come out of the end of the starter. However, I took starter off and the end cap popped off, and I don't believe I can put back together. So, I just ordered a new one that will be in on Wed. Thanks thought Larry.
