stuck in two gears
| tw49 | this is a 601 workmaster with a four speed trans.shifter is sloppy and i think it is stuck in two gears.runs but when you let clutch out it stalls.took top shifter plate off but not sure what to pry on if anything. help |
| Jim Loveridge | You actually should post this on the main Ford tractor site as this site is just for the 'N' series tractors. However a transmission is a transmission. There is a 1st / 3rd slider that engages the like gears on the cluster. The same would be true for 2nd / 4th slider. Then there is the reverse slider. Move those sliders so none are engaging any of the gears on the cluster. That would be neutral. Then line up the shifter and put the top back on. Shift gears very gentley. Your tractor is old and it's not a sports car. Hope this was some help.
