Ford 3000 dsl. - water level drops in radiator

sd Question for the pros. on this forum:
I've noticed the water level dropping in the radiator after about 10 hrs. of work. I had to put in about 1 gal. to bring it up to the level. There's no oil into the radiator. I looked at the oil, drained it, was black with some white/gray streaks coming out at the end (no foaming). Also some very tinny cooland bubbles floating into oil...It seems like some coolant gets into the oil, but by my judgment it's just a small amount. Question is, where's the most likely place to have such a small leak? Should i be concerned with this, or just check water often and add when needed?
Thanks guys!
