| Jackson | Had the same condition awhile back on my 4600 Ford.Had to have the tractor{rear split} and the pto brake and clutch replaced. Works perfect now. Was to big of a job to do myself so I had the shop do it. It cost me around 700.00. Jackson

| SimoS | Fortunately, the job is not as complicated as with Ford 4xxx , no need for split, just take the hydraulic unit off the tractor (remember first to remove the upper link arm bracket and then the rectangular plate behind that, pull the long axle through the hole) , then take the PTO clutch out, it is the canister like item below the lift cover. You have to loose one bolt from the left side of the transmission unit before the PTO clutch and valve can be removed. Of course the hydraulic pressure plastic tube is to be removed also. Then you can replace the brake pad or band on your workshop table, it could be wise to replace the diskpack also, the parts are well available and not very expensive. A couple of hours work. I have purchased old Fords, and the PTO clutch has usually been worn out. Sorry my bad English, hope this helps. -S- |
