| Bill Archer | I bought a used 5000 70s or 80s vintage I think. It doesn't match up to some of the discriptions in the reprint manual. It has a distributor-type fuel pump, a single fuel filter, a single oil filter, and what appears to be a gear driven power steering pump on the left side of the engine. Was this tractor put togather from parts or were some built this way? It also has an oil bath air cleaner and a roll bar that looks factory. Thanks for any information.

| RickB | It may have gotten a BSD (new, complete) engine at some time. Power Steering pump sounds original. Injector pump, single fuel filter and spin on engine oil filter may indicate a later engine.

| bill archer | Thanks for the information. I'm new at this, what is BSD? Also, I've been told that this particular tractor was built in England,(I'm in Texas). Is that possible? If so can you tell by the serial #? Bill |
| JAMES | Hi Bill, Many of that series were improted from England back in late 60's and early 70's. If I remember correctly the imports had the headlights in the front grill and turn signal lamps on the rear fenders. |
| gcobb | I have a 4400 industrial with the same thing its a201 cubic inch diesel and it was made right here in the good ole usa. its a 1969 year mdl. Go to Oaktree.com and they will tell you how to check the serial #s.

| Grant Blythen | I'm from New Zealand, that sounds like all 5000 tractors here, all imported from England. Lift the bonnet and there should be a badge on it with several no's. One of these will be a 'unit' no. something like '3D11B' meaning 1973 D=April 11=11th B=afternoon shift. If this badge is missing it is also stamped on thelet handside of the tractor on top of the mounting point belopw the diesel tank at front of clutch bell housing, there are 2 no.s there, you want the one starting with a no.
