| Dave Coxon | My fathers Ford 3000 has never been right as far as the hydraulics to the 3 point and loader are concerned. They are basically 'lazy'. After operating the lever, it will take anything between 2&5 seconds to move the arms, and when it does move, it's at a snails pace. Revving the engine at anything over 1500 rpm makes the hydraulics juddery and move even slower! Is this a goosed pump, blocked filter, anything??? Please help, this has been going on for too long (5+ years - but we've never used it much really, but 2004 is going to be a hard year!), and whilst i'm spending a lot of time doing some LONG overdue maintenace, i'd love to get the hydraulics working like they should again! It was suggested to me on another forum that this is almost definately a blocked filter, but no other assistance was given. oh, if this is a blocked filter (and given the lack of maintenance the rest of the tractor has had for the last 30 odd years it wouldn't surprise me - especially what i found in the bottom of the diesel tank) is there anything else that you recomend i change whilst i'm delving in there??? Finally, what grade of oil should i be using in the back end and main box - and what are the capacities??? oh, i'm in the uk, so i'm taking a guess that the 3000 is the same the world over? Thanks, in advance, |
| RickB | Does sound like a suction restriction. I would remove the hyd pump, remove the hyd fill cap fill that hole with a rag stuffed loosely in it. Take compressed air and use moderate blasts down through the suction tube where it connects to the pump. This should backflush the suction screen. Drain the hyd oil. If you wish, you can remove the PTO shift cover (non-SOS units) and inspect the screen. Refill with fresh oil. Consider a hyd pump rebuild including the shaft seal. Good Luck.

| steve | I have recently had the same problem, the real trouble was in the flow control valve, which is mounter on the right side of the housing just under the drivers seat, once I took out the valve and plunger, then cleaned them with fine sandpaper my problem went away, the filter you talk about is hard to get to as you have to remove the top cover which is quite heavy with lots of pieces to deal with, eapecially the 14 bolts of different lengths! Good uck, steve
