The engine turns over fine, I have spark (but weak), I replaced the plugs and still get no fire. I hae gas and starting fluid did not help. The rotor is turning and I am stumped.

Is it possible to develop a blockage between the carb and the spark plugs?

Check your point gap and that the points are not pitted, if pitted replace points and condenser. If it doesn't start then remove the coil wire from distributor cap hold a 1/4 inch from gronding surface of engine block, crank engine over, you should strong blue or blue-white spark. If the spark is weak or want jump the gap remove the coil and have it tested. If none of the above helps then remove all spark plugs and test the compression of each cylinder. Hope this info this helps.

I have to remove the wires from the generator to keep it from smoking while not running. Generator was tested and is okay. Could this be from a bad voltage regulator or do I need to look elsewhere?
