| Kerry | I have a Ford 1520 that won't turn over. When I try to start the tractor, the starter solenoid clicks and then the electrical system goes dead. I have to disconnect and reconnect the positive battery lead to bring the electrical system back to life. When the electricical system is on, the lights, dash lights, and cylinder wall preheater work fine. I suspect the starter solenoid, but don't understand why the electrical system goes dead when I try to start the tractor, nor why it comes back to life when I disconnect and reconnect the positive battery lead. Any Ideas?

| James Baker | Hi, Sounds as if you have a bad connection, bad ground. or a bad cable. Clean both battery posts and cable connectors, If you have a REPAIR END on the cables take them apart where they are attached to the cable also. Check the tightness of the bolts at the chassis ground and also at the solenoid cable nut. Good luck. |
| phil evans | I need a wiring diagram for ford 1520 if anyone could mail it to me I sure would be thankful.

| Tony | I had the same problem and drove me nuts , It was the ignition switch on mine. I also had intermittent problems with glow heater and some dash lights. all works fine now.
