8N Vs. 9N

Ray I have recently bought a new home with 4 acres. I have been looking for a small tractor to mow, blade driveway, plow small garder, etc. I have found a 1950-52 Ford 8N with a 6' woods finish mower, and also a Ford 9N (not sure on the year) with a 6 ft. finish mower. I have heard people say that you do not want the 9N because of how it is geared or something like that. I have heard just the opposite from someone else. Which should I buy if they are about the same price, and Why. Thanks, Ray

I have an 8N but the engine serial # begins with 9N. Does that mean I have the lower Horsepower? Was the cylinder head different to get the higher compression ratio? Thanks

Salmoneye
