I have a 1310 ford and am having difficulty keeping glow plugs in it. I just put three new ones in it Oct. and two are gone already. I also put a block heater in it and my plugs were gone sgortly after I used it for the first time. Is this a coincidence?? Any advise???

Not familiar with the control for your glow plug activation. I have a timer control on my F-Super Duty and a few months back it failed, causing the glow plugs to stay activated all the time. I replaced the glow plugs, around $80, and thought I had it all taken care of, not knowing that the timer control was deffective. The next week I was in buying all new glow plugs AND a $150 timer control. Anyway, I would check to make sure your glow plugs were being de-energized when the tractor starts. A test lamp or volt meter at the glow plug terminal should tell the tale. Good luck. Dan

It doesn't have a timer control. It uses a resistor system that basically glows red when your plug are hot enough and then you try to start the engine. The glow plugs only get power when you turn the key to the left before trying to start it.

That's what I thought it miight have but wasn't sure. I have an older Ford 550 TLB that workd the same way. I guess I would just make sure that it was working properly (power is removed from glow plug circuit when key turned to normal run position). Other than that I don't know what else it might be. Perhaps someone with a little more knowledge about these things will join in. I'm always looking for stuff to watch out for on these posta. Dan
