| ben | I am buying a 4000hd in the nesxt day or two and have a couple concerns. Only one of the backhoe controls will work at a time. for example, when lowering the outer part of the hoe arm, i cant close the bucket at the same time. is this normal or am i bein stupid about something? also, when in reverse there is a ticking noise, the current owner says a tooth is missing on the reverse gear. how costly is this part and might it last a while as is? thanks in advance for any opinions. ben |
| Holz | Sounds as if the hydraulics might be a little weak. And the labor bill to replace reverse gear will most likely be a little tasty. Not counting what else might have to be replaced like the gear that drives the reverse gear, for if one gear is chipped there is a good chance that the other might also be damaged. Good luck.
