Hydralic lift HELP!

Drew I have a 1970 ford 200 3cyl gas. The lift either goes all the way up or down. its nearly impossible to set it anywhere in between and it very touchy when doing so. When pulling the lever up of down it suddenly goes either completely up or down. I have changed and checked fluid and made sure the draft control lever is in correct place and tried both positions. i know there is something wrong with the internals of the lift but was wanting to know what to expect when i take the top off. Thanks
Billy You will probably find that the pin that runs against the rocker shaft cam is worn either half in two or completely broke off.
