3500 rear engine main leak???

Dan H	friend has a 3500 Gas with what i think is a rear main leak we have oil leaking through a hole 5/16" just behind the engine transmission side,it's black seems like oil(smell). any ideas could it be the rear main????
casey	It could be rear main or front trans seal. Either one requires the same work to fix. I would strongly recommend repalcing both and check clutch thoroughly while you have it apart. Your friend has a piece of gold. These things are getting hard to find. I have one with broken ring gear. Impossible to find but worth the trouble. I will find it eventually.
