Ford 1700 4x4 with loader no forward or reverse
| Joe DiMassi | in-laws bought a loader in florida and im in new jersey tryin to help him trouble shoot a problem 70s-to 80s tractor unsure of exact year first off the tractor sat for years they got it running really good apparently after cleaning fuel lines and tank etc etc the tractors rear 3pth moves and the loader bucket moves but they have no gears and no pto no matter what gear they put the tractor in so my question is where should i tell him to start looking |
| Peter | The ford 1700's PTO is tied to the clutch. If you have the clutch in it doesn't move, also the tractor won't move if there is a clutch problem. Sounds like the clutch or clutch assembly is bad. Can they start the tractor in the lowest gear and does it jump forward? If so the tranny would seem to be working since the starter moves the flywheel. If that is the case the it's most likely the clutch. Otherwise it's in the tranny and that is a big big problem. Let me know if they part it out, I'm looking for a good motor... |
